1. Methods of forced moulting
The current moulting method commonly used in broiler breeders is the continuous fasting method. Making a sound implementation plan before moulting is the key to ensuring a successful moult. The compulsory moulting program of broiler breeders includes several aspects such as preparation period, moulting period, recovery period, and technical indicators, among which the technical indicators are the guiding principles for formulating and implementing the compulsory moulting program.
In order to ensure the neatness of moulting, the following three points must be achieved: first, the egg production rate of the flock must be reduced to less than 1% within 6 days after the feeding is stopped; second, the egg production rate from the feeding stop to 50% The mortality during the period must be controlled within 5%; third, the weight loss rate during the moulting period must be 27%-30%.
2. Measures for compulsory moulting
Compulsory moulting of chickens refers to a chicken production technology that uses artificial measures to shorten the moulting time and extend the laying period. The correct use of forced moulting technology can shorten the moulting period by 10 weeks; reduce the cost of cultivating young chickens and save costs; extend the use period of laying eggs by more than 3l weeks to obtain more breeding eggs, chicken fry, commercial eggs and other products; purify breeders Group, improve the quality of eggs.
Forced moulting imitates the induction principle of natural moulting of chickens, and after long-term production practice, it has achieved the purpose of rejuvenating old chickens by replacing large groups of simultaneous moulting with a lower rate of death. At present, the commonly used artificial forced moulting method for breeders is the continuous hunger strike method.
